The Willow Tree® Story
Artist Susan Lordi hand carves each original Willow Tree® sculpture. Using family and friends as models, Susan tries to capture a moment in time, or express a feeling. Pieces are cast from her original carving, and then individually painted by hand. Softly washed colors, carved and metal accents, and representative icons of nature mark Susan's work.

"I try to keep the interpretation of Willow Tree open. I hope this makes it more personal, and allows the viewer to decide its meaning."

Willow Tree was introduced in January 2000. The line has grown to encompass those sentiments that we most want to express. To our friends, to our family, to our teachers; to those near and dear, to those far away.

The original inspiration for Willow Tree still holds true today: Willow Tree is an intimate, personal line of figurative sculptures representing qualities and sentiments that help us feel close to others, heal wounds, or treasure relationships. Susan Lordi carves each original piece with this thought in mind. Her figures continue to evolve as she identifies emotions so important for us to convey, and renders them in simple, pure gestures. These art forms beautifully express love, closeness, healing, courage, hope... all the emotions of a life well lived.

The name Willow Tree was chosen to symbolize that which is gestural and beckoning. The figures are columnar in design, like a tree, and often carry natural objects or animals as metaphors for human virtues or qualities... rosemary for remembrance, a bird for healing, flowers for beauty.

The sculptures are rendered so as to suggest elegance, simplicity, peace and serenity. Forms reveal their expressions through body gestures only... a tilt of the head, placement of the hands, a turn of the body. Emotions are left to the viewer to discern, which makes them personal and powerful. Willow Tree is an understated line that speaks in a compelling way.

Our New Gift Shop is Now Open.

On Saturday 14th November 2009 we opened our New Gift Shop in the village of Birstall,

We are very pleased with our little village gift shop.

We had a great opening day, even though the weather was terrible, we had lots of customers and friends visiting us on our special day, and all expressed their delight in our new shop,

We our very proud of ourselves with how quickly we made it all happen, from deciding to go for it at the end of September to getting the keys on the 28th October, and in just over 2 weeks we made it happen,

we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped and supported us during the stressfull setting up period,

We are feeling very positive about our future with now trading both online and through our shop,

Me to You Sketchbook is a unique and beautiful collection of contemporary handcrafted sculptures. Each original piece is hand-sculpted from clay by Steve Mort-Hill to capture every touch, thumbprint and expression of the Me to You Head Artist. The final sculpture is then cast from Steve’s original design, and hand-painted with care. Each sculpture has been cast from an original handmade design and is individually complimented by a sketch drawn certificate, all of which have been uniquely created and signed by lead artist Steve Mort-Hill showing his original workings of the piece.

Each sculpture has its own unique name forming part of a sentiment driven verse, and is beautifully presented within a satin finished box

We have the Keys!

On wednesday we received the keys to our brand new shop!

it's now all systems go to get it ready for it's grand opening on Saturday 14th November 2009,

we have been busy sourcing fantastic new products and know everyone will love what we will be selling,
